On May 12, the Girlz Party at Gipsy was attended by 400, while the Boy’s Party the next night, also at Gipsy was attended by 600- surpassing the record from the year before. On May 11, Colors of Pride Bingo proved to be the most successful up to that point. On May 9, SNAPI participated in the MCC Miracle Sunday. Then, a string of events followed leading up to the festival. The week was kicked off with the Royalty Pageant on May 8 in the banquet hall of St Tropez/Hamburger Mary’s. Held again at Las Vegas Event Center (formerly The Sport Center Las Vegas), over 6,000 people attended, as well as over 90 vendors.
“Winds of Change” turned out to be just the success that SNAPI needed it to be. As a result in the change of venue, our attendance increased dramatically and SNAPI was able to return $30,000 back to the non-profits supporting the LGBT+ Las Vegas community and established a scholarship fund with an initial $10,000.
This move was in response to requests from attendees, almost unlimited parking and the positive results of an analysis of potential additional revenue from food and alcohol sales. Lastly, the Annual PRIDE Festival on May 13th was moved from the Sports Center on Sunset Road to the outdoor venue of the amphitheater at the Clark County Government Center. We celebrated the opening of the beautiful 8 ½ and Piranha with the change of venue of PRIDE’s Girls Party on May 10th and Boys Party on May 11th. With our fabulous hostess, Kitty Litter, we had a record turnout and provided more than $3,000 in prizes to our community. We moved the extremely successful PRIDE Family Bingo on May 9th to a larger venue at the Plaza Hotel & Casino ballroom. Another new event was Las Vegas PRIDE Idol on May 8th, a karaoke competition with the winners appearing on the main stage of the PRIDE Festival. The inaugural women’s picnic the following day was co-hosted with Betty’s Outrageous Adventures to provide a replacement event for women and families after the closure of Wet N Wild. We celebrated the grand re-opening of The Center with a fantastic art show on May 6th. made several changes and new events were implemented to make the celebration more inclusive and responsive to the LGBT+ community. In 2006, the Southern Nevada Association of PRIDE, Inc. Las Vegas PRIDE: Michael Cammarata, and Mrs. The president of the organization this year was Ernie Yuen. Premiering in November, the publication was the only LGBT+ non-profit community magazine in print in Las Vegas. The event featured numerous exhibitors and non profit organizations as well as community entertainment, and family activities.Ģ014 also marked the first edition of the Las Vegas PRIDE Magazine.
Las Vegas PRIDE was proud to host a National Coming Out Day festival at Alexis Park All Suite Resort on October 11th. The Las Vegas PRIDE Festival was held at the Clark County Government Center and was headlined by Kristine W., Mister Chase, and Courtney Act.
PRIDE OUTside was also introduced this year as a free monthly group activity enjoying the great outdoors with hikes around the Las Vegas Valley. A weekend of activities including nightly shows hosted by Norma Llyaman, daily outdoor activities and socials proved a delightful time for all who attended. Charleston Rainbow Festival debuted July 25-27. Following the success of the Pahrump PRIDE events of previous years, Mt. This year was a year of firsts for Las Vegas PRIDE. Las Vegas PRIDE: Wayne Miestle & Craig Meland, and Mrs. The president of the organization this year was Jorge Solorio and the Executive Director was Ernie Yuen. The new role was filled by the organization’s then president, Ernie Yuen. This year, the organization also underwent a restructuring to include a new staff position of Executive Director. Other events surrounding the celebration included pool parties, PRIDE Family Bingo, parties at Charlie’s Las Vegas, Chateau Nightclub, Piranha Nightclub, Share Nightclub, DW Bistro, Entourage, and a youth skate night at the Crystal Palace Skating Center. The 2015 PRIDE Festival was held at the Clark County Government Center and was headlined by Jessica Sutta, David Hernandez, and Blake McIver. The Orgullo Latino festivities included a week-long celebration filled with parties and special events culminating with a two-day festival at the Llama Lot in Downtown Las Vegas. Las Vegas PRIDE in partnership with the LVCVA began an initiative to embrace and celebrate the Latin Community with a major scale event and an expansion of the Las Vegas PRIDE Royalty program. Las Vegas Orgullo Latino (Las Vegas Latin PRIDE) was introduced in 2015.
